Studies have shown that Gurmar leaves, when taken for a long period of time, helps diabetics stick to their no-sugar diet by lowering their cravings for glucose. It is best taken in tea form. Gurmar leaf powder is widely available and can be used to prepare the herbal tea. Capsules are also available and you may opt for capsules in case you want to avoid the bitterness of the tea.
Scientifically, Stevia is known as Stevia reboudiana and this herb belongs to the Sunflower family. The best way to use Stevia to control diabetes is to brew the leaves.
Goat’s rue belongs to the Pea family is botanically known as Galega officinalis. The aerial parts of this herbs contain a chemical- galegine that fights diabetes. Galegine decreases the glucose level and decreases insulin resistance. The herb is taken in form of tea by simmering the aerial parts in water for 45 minutes. Take about 3-4 cups of this herbal tea daily.
