Myopia is an ailment of eye that weakens a person’s ability to view far off objects clearly. However, the nearby objects appear perfectly normal. Myopia can strike due to several causes. Poor nutrition or excessive stress are the prime factors. Plus age factor contributes equally.
Myopia is one of those ailments that can’t be treated and recovered instantly. It takes its own time; months or even years. However, a number of herbal remedies can be used to minimize its effect.
Herbal Remedies For Myopia
Shortsightedness can be a deterrent for all. We can take the Ayurvedic remedy Triphala that is recognized as an effective eye tonic and it also helps in improving the digestive system greatly. Triphala means three fruits and consists of Embelica Myroblan, Belleric Myroblan, and Chebulic myroblan.
These three are ground into a fine powder form and then about 30 gm of it should be taken after swallowing with water. It can also be added to half liter of water, stirred and then drunk. Washing the eyes with this mixture about 2 times daily can also make a difference. This practice needs to be done for about 4-5 months to be pronounced effective.
Chicory is a herb that contains a lot of Vitamin A content that is very good for the eyes. Take 150 ml celery juice, 75 ml parsley juice and about 75 ml chicory juice mix well and then drink it once a day.
The muscular and optic system benefits immensely from this concoction because of its high nutritional content. Other herbs like spinach, cabbage, green peas, tomatoes, soya beans etc need to be added to the regular diet for myopia.
This is an age old remedy in Ayurveda and has been used as a trigger for the immune system for ages. Grate the amla fruit, throw the seed and then dry the flakes. These dry flakes can be consumed as such or can be ground into a powder and then mixed with honey. Add half spoon ground amla powder to one spoon honey, mix well and drink with warm water.
Powder the root of the liquorice plant and take about half tea spoon. Put one fourth clarified butter then add equal amount of the magic honey to this herb powder, mix to make a paste and take two times daily empty stomach with milk.
Kusuma Varthi Anjana
Kusuma Varthi Anajana is a conglomerate of different herbs used for treating Myopia. The major ingredients are common Jasmine, Sesamum flowers, long pepper and black pepper. Take all ingredients and beat them properly.
You may also mesh them in a grinder. Now, add some water to convert the mesh into the paste. Consume this mixture twice a day and witness the positive results showing colors in a month.
Bilberry is a herbal plant that produces small blueberries like berries. A substance known as anthocyanosides empowers the plant to treat Myopia symptoms. Bilberries can be consumed in a number of forms such as in the form of simple fruits or direct extracts. Dosage should be taken following prescription from a herbalists.
