Symptoms of Teething
Teething can be a very troublesome phase for a baby. The delicate gums hurt and there is a general feeling of irritability. You may find baby fussy without any reason, the gums may swell and become painful.
This condition starts about a week or ten days before a tooth erupts and goes off once the tooth shows up. Your baby may start chewing anything and everything to give comfort to gums.

Home Remedies For Teething
Use Clove and Butter
Prepare a paste of cloves and butter and keep it in the fridge. You need 1 tbsp of butter and 10 finely ground cloves, mix them well and store. Use a bit of it to rub on the painful gums, the baby will feel relieved. Cloves can be bought at any condiment store.
Take a big-sized carrot, wash it well and wipe it clean. It needs to be kept in the fridge so that it becomes cold. Babies like to chew on something when they are cutting teeth, anything hard gives them relief. Give a carrot to your baby to chew, since it is cold it has double the benefit.
When your baby has cut the teeth in the upper and lower jaw, then it becomes risky to give her carrot unless you are sitting and supervising. The baby will be able to bite it into pieces and can get choked.
Celery Stick for Teething
Use celery stick the same way as a carrot. Take care that it is a big sized piece and it does not choke.
Use Wooden Teething Ring
The use of wooden teething rings or toys have been an age old teething aid. Wood is a natural material and is easily available. See that the wood finish is cleaned well, good stores stock up on quality stuff. Mums worldwide even give kitchen wooden spatula.
One, it is foodgrade, two its one end is wide and it does not choke a baby and the last its wood finish has already worn out.
Clove oil is another remedy. You should dilute it by mixing it with almond oil in the ratio of 2 tbp of almond oil and 1 drop of clove oil. Clove oil is very strong, it can blister the gums badly if used without dilution. Rub a bit of oil on the gums four to five times a day.
Frozen Remedies for Teething
Mothers have been using frozen food items for teething. But make sure your child is not going to have problems with frozen foods. Favorites among these are water, breast milk or chamomile tea. These can be frozen in cubes and tied in a hanker chief and used.
Amber Necklace For Teething
These necklaces of small cream or golden brown beads are a favorite of moms. These are available in the market as teething aids. Amber stone has an acid which relieves pain of the gums. Some mothers swear by it but others say that their baby did not get any relief from amber necklace.
Rubber Pacifier or Silicon Pacifier
Babies like to chew on frozen pacifier as they like to chew a teether.
Diet for Teething
If your baby’s stomach is fine you can give anything that you have been giving earlier, otherwise stick to mother’s feed.
Lifestyle Changes for Teething
This is the time you need to think of helping the baby. You need to keep cool because you will find your baby cranky most of the times. Put your finger into child’s mouth and do some massage frequently.
